Miller re-elected president of Ford County Fair board

MELVIN — Kirk Miller of Melvin was re-elected president of the Ford County Fair board at its annual meeting on Jan. 14. 

Dallas Meyer of Thawville and Corinne Brown of Paxton were re-elected vice president and secretary/treasurer, respectively.

'Mr. Illinois Central Historical Society' stepping aside at end of year

PAXTON — Ever since the Illinois Central Historical Society bought an old railroad depot in downtown Paxton in 1990, Paxton resident Chuck Werner has been the go-to guy for anyone wanting to check out the organization’s massive collection of historical materials stored there.

It was the largest the 45-year-old father of three has taken since he started hunting deer in Central Illinois and Wisconsin in 2006.

Baby’s Voice, a pro-life organization, decided to raffle the house after one of its members felt called to do something with the pro-life movement.

Lake Iroquois under boil order until further notice

LAKE IROQUOIS — The unincorporated community of Lake Iroquois in southwestern Iroquois County is under a boil order until further notice.

Lake Iroquois’ maintenance department announced the news around 1:30 p.m. Monday, saying that the boil order is a result of a water main being damaged and subsequently draining the water tower.
